Areas of the Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden of Turin
The Botanical Garden is divided into two main areas: the Garden, located between the building of Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology and the Valentino Castle, and the Grove, located in the rear part.
The Garden is organized in thematic gardenbeds divided by botanical families and includes an Alpine forest, four greenhouses (greenhouse of South Africa, greenhouse of Succulent plants, tropical greenhouse e multiplication greenhouse) and three water tanks. In this area there are approximately 152 families and 1446 botanical entities.
The Grove hosts tree and shrub species typical of the original forest of the Po Valley and the Apiary of the Botanical Garden, inaugurated on 12 June 2010. There is also an area dedicated to the in vivo collection of ancient fruit trees linked to the "Garnier-Valletti" pomological models, composed of ancient varieties of fruit plants. There are approximately 48 families and 258 botanical entities present in the grove.
